Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 27 October 2026
These terms and conditions apply to all orders placed on cabinandcook.com. Please read them carefully before ordering. By placing an order, you agree to these terms. Sections 1 to 14 apply to consumers. If you are buying for business purposes, section 15 also applies and overrides the earlier sections where they differ.
1. About us
Cabin and Cook is a trading name of Paton Retail Services Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17159777, with its registered office at 22 Wessex Grange, Reading Road, Sherfield-on-Loddon, Hampshire, RG27 0ER. Our VAT number is GB 531 2929 02.
You can contact us by email at info@cabinandcook.com. If we need to contact you, we will use the email address, phone number or postal address you gave us with your order.
2. Our products
We take care to describe and show our products accurately. Images are for illustration only. Timber is a natural material, so grain, colour and knots will vary, and minor movement, shrinkage or splitting is normal and is not a defect. Colours on screen may differ slightly from the finished product. Dimensions, materials and specifications are given on each product page and may vary within reasonable tolerances.
Our log cabins and outdoor kitchens are supplied as kits for self-assembly unless the product page says otherwise.
3. Placing an order and when the contract is formed
Our website will guide you through placing an order. You can check and correct any errors before submitting it. After you place your order, we will email you to acknowledge it. This acknowledgement does not mean your order has been accepted.
Our acceptance of your order takes place, and a contract is formed between you and us, when we email you to confirm that your order has been dispatched (or, for items delivered direct by our supplier, confirmed for dispatch).
If we are unable to accept your order, for example because an item is out of stock, because of an error in the price or description, or because we cannot deliver to your address, we will contact you. We will offer you an alternative item, the correct price or a revised delivery date where possible. If you don't wish to go ahead, we will cancel your order and give you a full refund.
4. Prices and payment
All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT at the current rate. Delivery charges are shown separately at checkout and in our Delivery and Returns policy. If the VAT rate changes between your order and delivery, we will adjust the VAT you pay unless you have already paid in full.
Occasionally a product may be shown at an incorrect price. If the correct price is higher than shown, we will contact you before accepting your order. If the error is obvious and could reasonably have been recognised by you as a mistake, we do not have to sell the item at the incorrect price, even after dispatch.
We accept payment through Shopify Payments (including debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay) and PayPal. Payment is taken when you place your order. If we cannot accept your order, we will refund you in full.
5. Delivery
We deliver to UK mainland addresses only. Delivery charges, timescales and conditions are set out in our Delivery and Returns policy, which forms part of these terms. Unless we agree a different date with you, we will deliver your order within 30 days of the contract being formed.
Large items are delivered kerbside. You are responsible for making sure there is suitable access for a large delivery vehicle and for moving items from the kerb to your installation site.
The products become your responsibility once they have been delivered to the address you gave us. You own the products once we have received payment in full.
6. Your right to cancel (change of mind)
You have a legal right to cancel your order within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. We extend this to 30 days from the day you (or someone you nominate) receive the goods. If your order arrives in separate deliveries, the period runs from the day you receive the last item.
You must then return the goods within 14 days of telling us you wish to cancel. Full details, including return costs, the condition goods must be in and how refunds work, are in our Delivery and Returns policy, which also includes a cancellation form you can use.
We may reduce your refund if the value of the goods has been reduced because you handled them more than was necessary to inspect them, for example by assembling a kit, treating or staining timber, or using a fire pit, patio heater or grill.
7. Faulty or incorrect goods: your legal rights
We are under a legal duty to supply products that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015:
- Up to 30 days after delivery, if your item is faulty, you can reject it and get an immediate refund.
- Up to 6 months after delivery, if your item can't be repaired or replaced, you're entitled to a full refund in most cases.
- Up to 6 years after delivery (5 years in Scotland), if your item does not last a reasonable length of time, you may be entitled to some money back.
This is a summary of your key legal rights. They are subject to certain exceptions. For detailed information, visit the Citizens Advice website at citizensadvice.org.uk or call 0808 223 1133. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.
If you think an item is faulty or not as described, contact us at info@cabinandcook.com with your order number and photos. We will pay reasonable return or collection costs for faulty goods. Any manufacturer's warranty is in addition to your legal rights.
8. Your responsibilities
Our products are designed for use in a domestic garden setting. To help them perform as intended and to keep you safe, you are responsible for:
- Base and foundation – preparing a firm, level, well-drained base of the size and type specified for your product before delivery. We are not responsible for problems caused by an unsuitable or uneven base.
- Planning permission and building regulations – checking whether planning permission, building regulations approval or any other consent is needed for your product and location, including any restrictions on conservation areas, listed buildings or leasehold property.
- Assembly and timber treatment – assembling the product in line with our instructions and treating timber with a suitable preservative before and after assembly as directed. We are not responsible for damage or deterioration caused by incorrect assembly or by timber not being treated and maintained.
- Utilities and gas safety – using a qualified electrician, plumber or Gas Safe registered engineer for any electrical, water or gas connections, and following all safety instructions and clearance distances for fire pits, patio heaters and grills.
These responsibilities do not limit your legal rights if a product is faulty or not as described.
9. Our liability to you
If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or our negligence. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if both you and we knew it might happen when the contract was made.
We supply products for domestic and private use only. If you use them for commercial or business purposes, we have no liability to you for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for breach of your legal rights in relation to the products, including the right to receive products that are as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.
10. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failure to perform caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as extreme weather, supplier or carrier failures, strikes or civil unrest. If this happens, we will contact you as soon as possible and take steps to minimise the delay. If there is a significant delay, you may cancel and receive a refund for any products you have paid for but not received.
11. Product reviews
If you submit a review, it must be your own genuine experience of the product. We publish genuine reviews, both positive and negative, and do not offer incentives for positive reviews. We may decline or remove reviews that are offensive, unlawful, unrelated to the product, or not genuine.
12. Your personal data
We use your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
13. Complaints
If you have a problem or complaint, please email info@cabinandcook.com with your order number. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 2 working days and resolve them within 14 days.
We are not currently members of an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you can get independent advice from Citizens Advice, and you may take your claim to court.
14. Other important terms
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation. We will tell you if this happens, and it will not affect your rights.
- This contract is between you and us. No other person has any rights to enforce its terms.
- Each section of these terms operates separately. If a court finds any part unlawful, the rest will remain in full force.
- If we do not insist immediately that you do anything you are required to do, this does not prevent us from taking steps against you later.
- We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your order are those in force when you placed it.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can bring proceedings in either the Scottish or the English courts. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can bring proceedings in either the Northern Irish or the English courts.
15. Business customers
If you are buying for purposes relating to your trade, business, craft or profession, the following terms also apply and override sections 1 to 14 where they differ:
- The consumer rights described in sections 6 and 7 (the right to cancel and the statutory consumer remedies) do not apply to you. Any returns we accept are at our discretion.
- We warrant that products will, on delivery and for 12 months afterwards, conform in all material respects with their description and be free from material defects in design, material and workmanship. If they don't, our only obligation is to repair or replace the product, or refund the price, at our option.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, all other terms implied by statute or common law are excluded.
- We will not be liable to you for any loss of profit, loss of sales or business, loss of agreements or contracts, loss of anticipated savings, loss of or damage to goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss.
- Our total liability to you in connection with any order is limited to the total price you paid for that order.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
- These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
